Service Description
Each week, students learn about an artist or art period and then create their own composition in imitation. We begin with cave paintings and go through the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and all the way to modern abstractionists meeting Botticelli, Michelangelo, William Morris, Renoir, Pissarro, VanGogh, O'Keefe, Pollock, Warhol, and more! Each week I'll introduce an art technique such as mixing colors, brush drawing, figure drawing, portrait proportions, using the golden rectangle, composition, and more.... Students will create 29 compositions in a variety of mediums in a hard cover art journal, making a stunning portfolio of art history and displaying their skills. Class meets for an hour and a half once a week. ALL CLASSES ARE RECORDED SO YOU CAN WATCH LATER IF YOU MISS A CLASS The Companion book, Reflections on Art History will be used in this class. It isn't required, but it is very helpful. You can find the book in the SHOP (check the top menu bar for SHOP) Students provide their own art supplies. If you shop by clicking the links at the right, Delightful Art Co. will get a commission which we will use to help reach more Christian art students. This class goes well with Classical Conversation's Challenge II's Western Cultural History strand. The 12 artists in Challenge 2 are covered in this class. (You do not need to be in Classical Conversations to take the class.) Students will need a laptop with a camera and mic with which they will participate in class discussions and show their artwork. Note: tuition is per student. If siblings take the class, they both pay tuition.
