Classes begin the week of September 14th with twelve weeks in each semester.
Learn how to sketch like a courtroom artist! This class is divided into three main parts: figure drawing, fashion, and architecture. Combining these elements will give students the ability to compose entire scenes, including illustrations of their own imaginary court case!
While learning about the United States judiciary system, historical court cases, and courtroom etiquette, we will also study the drawings made during the trials. But the class caters not only to aspiring courtroom artists, but to anyone interested in pencils and sketchbooks. Students will learn to draw well and put that skill into practice at any on-site location: a coffee shop, a sports game, your desk, a debate round, an airport, a farmers market, or sitting in front of the Eiffel tower!
In addition to learning the foundational principles of basic shapes, geometric forms, perspective, point-of-view, human proportions, shading, contour lines, textures, and cartooning, they will learn how these concepts work together to create a story. How can we pen the likeness of a figure? How do we show motion? How can we capture the mood of the room using a pencil, black pen, and colored pencils? How do we tell a story through art?
If students have the opportunity to attend a mock trial, they can sketch and show the class!

A great way to improve your drawing skills!
Build confidence in class by sketching basic shapes and figures and learning perspective, then go out and draw on location - in a mock trial or cafe!
Kinley Bowers leads this class (pictured above dressed as Lady Justice). She brings a tremendous amount of skill in figure and portrait drawing, experience in mock trial, a degree in English, and so much enthusiasm. You are going to have a great time in this class!

The teacher will be using this book as a reference for class. It is not required for the students, but if they would like to do extra reading it is available on Amazon.
